Winegard Flatwave Amped Indoor HDTV Antenna Review

We posted a review of the Winegard Flatwave Amped Indoor TV Antenna. This amplified TV antenna is flat and thin and can be mounted on the wall so it has an advantage over bulkier antennas that must be placed on a flat surface. Mounting on the wall can keep it away from interference and mounting higher may improve reception.

In Part 1, we unbox the Winegard Flatwave Amped HDTV antenna and show you what's included. We show the refurbished model (FL-55YR) which is significantly cheaper than the retail box version, but the features are the same. Most importantly, this antenna boasts a 50 mile coverage area and comes with everything you need to set it up quickly. This is an amplified antenna so your signal will be much stronger.

In Part 2, we set up the Winegard Flatwave Amped HDTV antenna and do a channel scan over 50 miles away from San Francisco, California. The test will reveal if the manufacturer's claims of 50 mile range is truly real.

Our results indicate that this TV antenna is super competitive with our favorite which is the Terk FDTV2A and yes it almost pulled in every channel from San Francisco which is truly an amazing feat.
